This was the year for 13 year olds. She was having a Luau and wanted something tropical. Flowers were made from Gumpaste. The flip flops,13 and swirls were fondant. The seashells were made from white chocolate. That was my first attempt at making chocolate molds. It was very fun and tasty too! Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

My niece's 13th birthday! She picked the design out herself and she helped with every aspect of the cake. It was cool being able to have some help. Lemon cake with lemon cream filling. Absolutely wonderful!!!! The icing is buttercream with fondant accents.

For a Vacation Bible School end of the week ceremony. Their theme was Fruit of the Spirit and they requested a fruit themed cake. The bottom layer was a 12" Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Mousse Filling. The middle was a 10" Lemon Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Filling. The top was a 8" Pineapple Cake with a Pineapple Cream Cheese filling. I did the basket weave so it would look more like a fruit basket. The cake is covered with grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and the top has Apples, Peaches, and Plums. Quite a task on the basketweave, but it came out beautiful.

Teacher Retirement cake and this one really didn't have a theme so I matched it to the napkin. You may be able to see it in the picture. They did want to switch the red and orange so that is the only difference. 2 12 x 18 sheet cakes devils food and yellow.

This was for my cousin's little boy who loves racecars and Hot Wheels. It is 2 8" round cakes pushed together with a dome cake on top. I cut a tunnel all the way through the dome. It was so cool! The racetrack is crushed oreo cookies. The Hot Wheels sign is MMF. The cars and blimp are from the store. I made the checkered flags using lollipop sticks.

Retirement Cake for a principal of a local school. She loves the beach and they wanted the cake to reflect the invitation they had picked out. This was a huge cake being 2 12 x 18 sheet cakes pushed together. One chocolate, one vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The sand is vanilla wafers and brown sugar crunched up. The chairs were made by my husband out of popsicle sticks and then painted. Palm trees are pretzel sticks with fondant leaves. Fondant beach towels and flip flops.

Okay, one of my favorite cakes so far. It was an absolute blast to do this one because it was for my son's 2nd birthday. But in case you were wondering why it said Happy Birthday Mom as well it was also my mother in laws birthday too! So I couldn't leave her out so hers was the flower that the caterpillar was eating. The caterpillar is made from Pouncake covered in MMF. The legs were twizzlers and gum drops. The ladybug and the butterflies were MMF. Daisies were handmade as well. I also used this cake as my final cake for my last cake class. So this was quite the project, but I had so much fun and was very proud. Can't wait to do another one like this!

A little different approach to a baby shower, but that is what makes it cool. They kept finding little outfits that were pink with turtles and that is how we came up with this theme. So to some the turtle may throw you off, but for this family it fits right in. The colors were pink, green and brown. The cake borders were MMF buttons, rattle and some of the turtle were MMF. The baby booties were marshmallows covered in icing. The cakes were chocolate poundcake with chocolate buttercream icing, and vanilla with vanilla buttercream. All in all it turned out pretty cute.

Really tried something new with this one. How about a Peanut Butter Buttercream icing!!!!! It was delicious. The filling was chocolate buttercream and the flowers were Petunias. At the end I had a little of the Peanut Butter icing and the chocolate icing left over so I mixed them. It may become one of my favorites, so I hope I get to do the Chocolate Peanut Butter Buttercream Icing again. It was yummy!

Well its been awhile since I posted anything new. I have been very busy and haven't been able to keep up. But I was very proud of this cake. This young man was being deployed to Iraq the monday after Easter. It was an honor to make something to represent him and how much his family loved and supported him. The sheet cake was a vanilla poundcake with vanilla buttercream. The Yellow Ribbon was a white cake with vanilla buttercream. The American flag, Army patch, dog tags, and banner were made from MMF. It turned out even better than I expected. The family was very excited and I was glad they gave me the chance to make something for such a special occasion.

Another class cake! There are 44 roses in all. They are all handmade with fondant. The cakes are vanilla on the 6" top and chocolate and strawberry on the 10" bottom. They are covered in fondant with small flower accents. This one took quite some time to put together. But would do it all over again. What do you think?

Star Wars cake for a 7 year old boy. The cake is vanilla with chocolate chips. The icing is chocolate buttercream with graham cracker crumbs for a sand look. The homestead house is made of rice krispies with marshmallow fondant. I wish I could say the figurines were handmade but they are not. This was a cool cake to work on especially the house. Really wanted to do the Stars Wars logo, but ran out of space.

It has been a cookie weekend. Believe it or not the guitar is actually a cookie cake. I just covered it with buttercream icing. This one is for two girls that have a High School Musical, Camp Rock, and Hannah Montana (Girls Rock!) Party.

Just a simple 11x15 Cookie Cake with chocolate and white icing.

How girly is this! I just love this cake. It was so much fun to make. It takes a little while to put together all the details, but so worth it. The cake is a marbled cake with yellow and chocolate with a chocolate cream cheese filling. Outside is all marshmallow fondant (MMF). Can't wait to try this one out.

Basket Full of Flowers. Lemon Cake with Lemon Buttercream. Making all of the flowers took some time, but well worth it. The basket weave on the side makes the cake. Very different. This would make a great Mother's Day Cake!!

For the Blue and Gold Banquet too! As if you couldn't tell. They needed another dessert, so I did a cookie cake. 11x15 size. Chocolate Chip Cookie.
For my nephew's Blue and Gold Banquet. It is a 12 x18 Lemon Poundcake with Buttercream Icing. The image is made of Buttercream icing as well. Something a little different, but fun none the less.
